In addition to its standard products (round, square, hexagonal and flat bars), Boxholm Stål AB can also provide cold drawn, special profiles in various shapes, steel grades and dimensions.

 

When manufacturing bars of complex shapes, cold drawing special profiles is an excellent way of reducing machining and thus reducing the lead time for production and/or reducing the overall costs.

 

Simpler special profiles are cold drawn in the same manner as our standard products, i.e. from a standard base material in coil or bar form (round, square, hexagonal or flat). A special drawing die is used for shaping the finished profile. Tooling costs are normally included in the price.

 

Complicated special profiles are cold-drawn from a ready-formed base material (which is heat-rolled or heat extruded into the cold drawn profile’s intended shape). In addition to the special drawing die for shaping the finished profile, a special rolling or extruding tool used up in the process. Tooling costs are normally included in the price.
